Aftercare
Aftercare by Piercing
Do not touch the piercing or rotate jewelry during the healing period.
Do not take it out. Do not change or remove the jewelry during the healing period.
Never use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or antibacterial soap because it can damage healthy cells and cause irritation.
Clean the piercing site twice daily by spraying directly with sterile saline. Air dry the area or gently remove excess saline with gauze, a cotton swab, or other clean material (don't touch the piercing during this step.) Don’t overuse, excessive moisture or dryness and itching may occur. Shower water is also effective for cleaning buildup on jewelry and piercing sites: allow water to splash on the piercing and knock off debris.
Downsizing is required for proper healing! This applies to any piercing with a straight bar, flat back labret, or curved barbell. Failing to downsize can result in permanent migration or rejection, both of which require removal of the jewelry.
Avoid sleeping on fresh piercings; tip: you can use a donut or airline pillow; we sell piercing pillows! Wash the cover frequently.
Do not let earbuds or cell-phones touch your piercings.
Don’t expose your piercing to pool, ocean, or hot tub water until 6-12 weeks after being pierced. Avoid exposing your piercings to shampoo and soap in the shower.
An anti-inflammatory medication (not aspirin) can be used to reduce any swelling or pain. (follow the manufacturer’s instructions)
Take a hot shower and let the water hit the piercing in order to remove any crusted lymph fluid. If any remain after the shower, use a damp Qtip. ONLY USE Qtips after showers!
Maintain a healthy lifestyle for optimal healing speeds: eat and sleep well.
If at any time you feel like your jewelry is not enough for the initial swelling, visit a piercer ASAP to get a longer bar installed.
